JAKARTA - The construction of the Palembang-Betung Toll Road is getting closer to the operational stage after the Musi V Bridge obtained the Structural Laik Function Approval Certificate (SLF) from the Ministry of Public Works (PU).
The certificate is one of the important stages towards the target of operating the toll road by the end of this year.
The Certificate of Approval for the Public Function was handed over by the Head of the Special Bridge and Tunnel Security Office and the Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Road Bridge and Tunnel Security Commission (KKJTJ) Armen Adekristi to Hutama Karya Operations Director III Iwan Hermawan in Jakarta, Monday, July 27.
The issuance of the certificate was carried out after the Musi V Bridge through a series of technical evaluations by the KKJTJ, ranging from static and dynamic load tests to discussions on safety aspects.
The results of the evaluation stated that the bridge structure met all technical requirements and was suitable for use.
"Musi V Bridge is one of the national strategic infrastructures. Based on the results of testing and evaluation, all technical aspects, safety, and structural strength have met the requirements, so it is declared fit for function," said Armen as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, July 29.
He explained, according to the Minister's Regulation (Permen) PU Number 10 of 2022, the manager is obliged to carry out periodic monitoring and maintenance of the bridge and submit an annual report.
To support this, the Musi V Bridge has been equipped with a structural monitoring sensor that is integrated with a monitoring dashboard.
In the future, the system will be strengthened through a centralized command center, so that the condition of the bridge can be monitored in real time.
"We thank Hutama Karya and all related parties for their excellent cooperation, so that the Certificate of Approval for the Musi V Bridge Structure Function can be issued in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
Meanwhile, Hutama Karya's Director of Operations III Iwan Hermawan said that the certificate was an important milestone in the completion of the Palembang-Betung Toll Road, which has long been awaited by the people of South Sumatra.
"We thank you for the support and assistance provided during the completion of the Musi V Bridge," he said.
Iwan assessed that since the project was continued by Hutama Karya in 2024, the company is committed to completing it according to the target.
"Alhamdulillah, the bridge structure was successfully completed late last year and has been functionalized during the Christmas and New Year and Eid al-Fitr periods to support the smooth flow of traffic," added Iwan.
According to him, there are two biggest challenges in the construction of the Palembang-Betung Toll Road, namely the construction of the Musi V Bridge and vacuum consolidation work.
Both works were successfully completed through collaboration between various parties.
"Thanks to the collaboration of all parties, we have successfully completed both challenges. We are optimistic that the Palembang-Betung Toll Road can be operated according to the target at the end of this year, so that the benefits will be immediately felt by the community," he explained.
The Musi V Bridge is a balanced cantilever concrete box girder bridge with a span length of 380 meters that crosses the Musi River in South Sumatra Province.
The structure is the main part of the Palembang-Betung Toll Road along 69.19 kilometers which is divided into three sections, namely Palembang-Rengas, Rengas-Pangkalan Balai and Pangkalan Balai-Betung.
Until now, the construction progress of the Palembang-Betung Toll Road has reached 85.54 percent, while the progress of land acquisition has reached 88.43 percent.
After all stages of completion and testing are completed, the toll road is targeted to start operating by the end of 2026 to strengthen the connectivity of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) as well as to encourage economic growth in South Sumatra.
