JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) reported that throughout 2025, it will present 4,655 SPKLU machines in various regions of Indonesia, an increase of around 44 percent compared to 2024 which reached 3,223 units.

The growth in the number of SPKLU is accompanied by an increasingly wide distribution of locations. In 2025, the reach of SPKLU was recorded to have operated in 3,007 locations, a significant increase compared to 2024 which reached 2,192 locations.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo explained that the increase in the number of SPKLU is the company's commitment in supporting the government's instructions in accelerating the EV ecosystem in the country.

This is in line with the energy transition agenda in reducing carbon emissions in the transportation sector.

"In line with the government's instructions to encourage the adoption of EVs in the country, PLN is fully committed to being the front line in providing reliable charging station infrastructure. With the increasingly massive and even availability of SPKLU, we want to provide a sense of security and comfort for people to switch to electric vehicles," said Darmawan, Monday, February 9.

Meanwhile, PLN's Retail and Commercial Director, Adi Priyanto, said that efforts to update technology at SPKLU are also being carried out.

Currently, there are 633 units of Ultra Fast Charging, 482 units of Fast Charging, 2,681 units of Medium Charging, and 859 units of Standard Charging.

"We are not only focusing on quantity, but also on the quality of service. The arrival of faster charging technology is expected to reduce the range anxiety of EV users," explained Adi.

On the other hand, public interest in PLN's Home Charging Services (HCS) has also jumped sharply. By the end of 2025, 70,250 customers have used the HCS service, a significant increase compared to 2024 which amounted to 32,215 customers.

This growth in HCS is driven by various stimulus programs offered by PLN, such as a 50 percent discount promo for new installation and power addition costs as well as a 30 percent discount on electricity tariffs for charging between 22.00-05.00 WIB, which is valid from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.

In addition to strengthening physical infrastructure, PLN also optimizes the Electric Vehicle Digital Service (EVDS) digital service on the PLN Mobile application as a support for user operations.

Through the Trip Planner feature, electric vehicle users can plan a travel route by considering the distance traveled and the location of SPKLU.

Meanwhile, the AntreEV feature helps manage the charging queue so that the service remains orderly amid the surge in mobility.

"As the EV ecosystem continues to grow, we will continue to improve the readiness of electric vehicle charging services through the strengthening of infrastructure in various regions and increasingly solid digital services," concluded Adi.
