JAKARTA - The government continues to maintain the affordability of public transportation and the smoothness of community mobility during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year Transportation (Nataru) period through a tariff policy that is in favor of the community.

During this Nataru period, KAI provides a 30 percent discount on the Commercial Economy Train service, which is valid from December 22, 2025 to January 10, 2026.
In the program, KAI has prepared a total of 1,509,080 seats and until December 27, 2025 at 08.00 WIB, the tickets sold reached 1,139,481 tickets or 76 percent of the total capacity, so there are still 369,599 seats available for the public.
KAI Corporate Communication Vice President Anne Purba said that this affordable tariff program is part of the government's role in ensuring that public transportation access remains widely open during the year-end holidays.

In addition to the economic service strengthening program, KAI also presents a 25 percent discount on the fare for long-distance trains of various classes, ranging from Executive, Luxury, to Compartment.
The program applies to ticket purchases from December 25 to 31, 2025, with departure schedules from December 29, 2025 to January 4, 2026, covering 252 long-distance train trips during the Nataru period.
Anne explained that all discount programs can be easily accessed through the Access by KAI application, so that people can plan their trips practically and efficiently.
According to him, this ease of access is expected to help the public in making travel plans for the end of the year more calmly.
Overall, the sale of tickets for Christmas Transportation 2025 and New Year 2026 in the period from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026 has reached 3,251,764 tickets as of December 27, 2025 at 08.00 WIB, from a total of 3,506,104 seats provided.
The sale of long-distance train tickets was recorded at 2,744,263 tickets or 99.4 percent of capacity, while local trains sold 507,501 tickets or 68.1 percent of the total available capacity.
Anne said the high mobility of the community during the New Year had a positive impact on the regional economy.
According to him, the movement of train passengers encourages the activities of MSMEs, food and beverage traders, local transportation business actors, to small-scale lodging managers around stations and tourist destinations.
