Welcoming Nataru Holidays, Ministry Of Transportation Provides 33,000 Free Homecoming Quota

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi invited the public to take advantage of the Christmas 2025 Free Homecoming and 2026 New Year (Nataru) facilities presented by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"Registration has been open since December 1, 2025. Please take advantage of free homecoming facilities through registration on the homecoming website page.kemenhub.go.id," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, December 9.

Dudy said, this year the Ministry of Transportation has prepared a free homecoming quota with a total of 33,039 passengers and 5,628 motorbikes via land, train, and sea modes.

Dudy also hopes that the quota provided can be utilized optimally by the community, both provided by the Ministry of Transportation and by relevant transportation operators, so that the quota for organizing the Free Homecoming Program can be filled optimally, on target, and provide direct benefits to the community.

"We hope that the quota can be filled optimally by people in need," said Dudy.

Dudy emphasized that the free homecoming program is an important instrument for the government to provide safe, safe, comfortable and affordable homecoming for the community. This program is also expected to make people switch from using private vehicles to public transportation.

"This year's Ministry of Transportation's free homecoming program consists of 70 buses on 10 routes from Jakarta to various cities in Java, free train motorcycle services for 5,568 motorcycles and 12,720 passengers, as well as free sea transportation for 17,239 passengers on 55 routes," he said.

Dudy said, the series of departures and returns were designed to follow the forecast for the peak of movement. It is estimated that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on December 24, 2025 and the peak of backflow on January 2, 2026.

Based on the evaluation of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year Transportation, it was recorded that 94.67 million people moved with 17.18 million public transport passengers and a decrease in accidents by almost 14 percent.

The transition from using private vehicles, especially motorbikes, to public transportation is very good to reduce the potential for accidents and reduce road burdens. We want people to be able to gather with their families in the village without having to take risks on the road using motorbikes," said Dudy.

Dudy mengingatkan budaya mudik harus diiringi tanggung jawab bersama atas keselamatan seluruh pengguna jalan dan sarana transportasi.

Dia berharap masyarakat dapat mengikuti seluruh ketentuan keselamatan yang diberlakukan di lapangan.

“Mudik adalah tradisi mulia untuk merajut silaturahmi. Untuk itu, kita perlu mempersiapkan dan menjalankannya dengan selamat, aman dan tertib,” tutur Dudy.

Dudy reminded that the culture of going home must be accompanied by a shared responsibility for the safety of all road users and transportation facilities.

He hopes that the community can follow all safety provisions imposed in the field.

"Homecoming is a noble tradition to knit friendship. For that, we need to prepare and run it safely, safely and orderly," said Dudy.
