JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) targets the public's fish consumption rate (AKI) to reach 26.66 kg/capita/year this year.
This is as stated in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2025-2029.
This was conveyed by the Acting Director General of Strengthening Competitiveness for Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Machmud at the 2025 National Fish Day press conference: Fish Protein for the 2045 Golden Generation in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 19.
"We want 2025 to be 26.26 (kg/capita/year) later in 2029 targeted at 28.63 (kg/capita/year). Hopefully this can be achieved," said Machmud.
Based on the exposure material displayed, the target for the public fish consumption rate continues to rise. In detail, in 2025 it is targeted to reach 26.26 kg, then increase to 26.85 kg in 2026 and in 2027 it is targeted at 27.44 kg.
Then, in 2028 to 28.04 kg and in 2029 it is hoped that it can penetrate 28.63 kg/capita/year.
However, Machmud admits that the number of people who consume fish throughout Indonesia is still not evenly distributed.
For this reason, the target for fish consumption for each province is different.
The province with the most fish consumption targets this year is North Sulawesi with a total of 45.69 kg/capita/year, followed by Southeast Sulawesi with 43.74 kg/capita/year and North Maluku at 42.97 kg/capita/year.

The provinces with the lowest or least fish consumption targets, namely the Special Region of Yogyakarta in 19.79 tons/capita/year, Central Java with 17.30 tons/capita/year and Papua with only 11.05 kg/capita/year.
"This is not the equitable position, yes, we still have a very high one, there is a low one. We want fishery marine resources, especially for these fish, to be consumed in all places. From coastal to mountainous areas we can consume fish which are very useful," he added.
