JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation strengthens preparations through cross-sectoral coordination, including with the Indonesian National Police ahead of Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru).

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi together with the Echelon I ranks of the Ministry of Transportation visited the National Police Headquarters on Monday, November 17 to discuss the security and smooth mobility of the community during the peak of the Nataru holiday season.

Dudy said that the synergy between the Ministry of Transportation and the National Police is very important so that supervision, control, and handling potential vulnerabilities can be carried out quickly and accurately.

"The smooth flow of traffic is also our concentration. With this solid cooperation, we hope that the community can travel Nataru safely and comfortably," said Dudy in an official statement, Monday, November 17.

Ramp Check Tightened In All Modes

In addition to strengthening coordination, the Ministry of Transportation also conducts comprehensive ramp checks in all modes of transportation. This effort is made to ensure that the entire fleet meets safety standards before transporting passengers during the peak holiday period.

The marine sector is one of the main focuses. The Directorate General of Sea Transportation has deployed a Rapid Test Team to a number of passenger-intensive ports, including Tanjung Perak, Makassar, Batam, Ambon, Banten, Bitung, Dumai, Sorong, Kendari, Kotabaru-Batulicin, Ternate, Kupang, Tanjung Wangi, Merauke, to Muara Angke.

"Intensive coordination with BMKG is also carried out to obtain weather forecast updates and implement SOPs in the event of extreme weather," he said.

In the land sector, continued Dudy, the ramp check has been going on from 7 November 2025 to 2 January 2026. Inspections were carried out at bus pools, tourist routes, and terminals in various regions, from Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, NTT, NTB to Papua.

For the air sector, the ramp check is scheduled for December 21, 2025 to January 3, 2026. The inspection targets a total of 560 scheduled commercial aircraft, consisting of 366 units ready for operation and 194 units still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, in the railway sector, the ramp check includes inspection of facilities and infrastructure, including Minimum Service Standards (SPM) and inspections of safety across operations.

Dudy said that in facing the Nataru period, the Ministry of Transportation continues to tighten supervision through the implementation of ramp checks on all modes of transportation.

"We are taking this step to ensure that each fleet meets safety standards before serving the community. We are committed that the safety aspect is a top priority, so that people can travel during the Nataru era in a sense of security and calm," said Dudy.
