JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate in trading Monday, October 20, 2025, is estimated to have the potential to strengthen against the United States (US) dollar.

To note, citing Bloomberg, on Friday, October 17, 2025, the rupiah spot exchange closed down 0.05 percent to a level of IDR 16,590 per US dollar.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of Bank Indonesia (BI) closed down 0.06 percent to a price level of IDR 16,590 per US dollar.

Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong estimates that the rupiah exchange rate will strengthen against the United States dollar as market sentiment improves, driven by easing concerns about the US banking sector.

"The rupiah is expected to strengthen against the dollar as market sentiment improves with the easing of concerns in the US banking sector," he told VOI, Monday, October 20.

However, he explained that the strengthening of the rupiah is expected to be limited because investors are still anticipating the possibility of cutting interest rates by Bank Indonesia this week.

"The strengthening (Rupiah) will be limited considering that investors anticipate BI's cut in interest rates this week," he explained.

Lukman projects that the movement of the rupiah on Monday, October 20, will move in the range of Rp. 16,500 per US dollar to Rp. 16,650 per US dollar.
