JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) claimed to have conveyed to the company that built a concrete embankment in the Cilincing sea, North Jakarta, that there were fishermen who lost money due to the existence of the embankment.
The Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono or Ipunk said that the company claimed to provide CSR funds to affected fishermen.
"We also convey that fishermen lose, here. (They said) 'Sir, we will do the CSR earlier, sir'," said Ipunk at a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission IV of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 16.
Regarding the existence of fishermen who complained about the existence of the concrete embankment, the company argued that they were immigrants.
"Indeed, the one who did the video turned out to be the fisherman, right, yesterday's meeting, 'Sir, there were not our residents, sir'," he said.
"Therefore, the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries from the Regional Government will carry out mitigation related to population," he continued.
Ipunk explained, for fishermen who are local residents, the company will finance their children's schools until college.
"So, if they are there, they will finance their children's schools until they graduate, maybe until college," said Ipunk.
"And every year they pay a tax of Rp26 billion, sir, to the local government," he added.
To note, the concrete fence is a embankment built by PT Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN), a port business entity that operates a public terminal at Marunda Port, North Jakarta.

Previously, social media was shocked by the existence of a concrete embankment in the coastal area of Cilincing, North Jakarta. The existence of the embankment was recorded in a video uploaded to the Instagram account @cilinginfo.
The video was recorded by a fisherman from the boat. You can see concrete with a length of 2-3 kilometers which seems to divide the waters on the north coast of Jakarta. The fisherman revealed that he had to go long to get to the ocean in order to find fish.
"The concrete embankment on the Cilincing Coast makes it difficult for coastal fishermen to pass. There are approximately 2-3 kilometers long. Initially, it was difficult for fishermen to find fish because they had to turn far away from the concrete embankment," said a fisherman in the video.
