Ended September 16, PTFI Has Not Re-submitted The Export Permit For The Copper Concentrat

JAKARTA - PT Freeport Indonesia is known to have not re-submitted a copper concentrate export permit to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).

In fact, the deadline for concentrat exports will fall on September 16.

Director General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba) Tri Winarno said that until now no permit had been submitted. This is also because the company is still focused on evacuating 7 workers trapped in the Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) underground mine.

"There is no (submission) yet. This is still the process of focusing on evacuation," Tri told the media crew, Monday, September 15.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia also admitted that until now his ministry had not received an application for an extension of PTFI's copper concentrate export license.

"Until today there has been no submission and if there is no submission, I think everything is good," Bahlil told the media crew at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, August 29.

Met separately, PTFI President Director Tony Wenas revealed that his party was still waiting for an evaluation from the government regarding the continuation of the copper concentrate export license.

"Kan akan dievaluasi oleh pemerintah, jadi sesuai dengan Kepmen-nya memang akan dievaluasi pada saat mau berakhirnya. Itu yang kita tunggu hasil evaluasi dari pemerintah lah," ujar Tony, Rabu, 27 Agustus.

The granting of this export permit follows a smelter fire that occurred some time ago and a smelter that is not yet operating at full capacity.

"It will be evaluated by the government, so according to the Ministerial Decree, it will be evaluated when it ends. That's what we are waiting for the results of the evaluation from the government," said Tony, Wednesday, August 27.
