KAI's Managing Director On Special Train Ticket Prices For Farmers And Traders: We'll See Feedback First

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) presents transportation innovations, namely the development of the Special Economic Class Passenger Train (K3) for Farmers, which is currently being modified at the UPT Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said the special train for farmers and receptors was being conducted an experiment. The technical discussion has been carried out since May 2024 and then realized through a facility modification process.

Regarding ticket prices, Bobby said, the company will see the public's response to this farmer and merchant train service. After that, he said, it can determine the economic value of the train type of operation.

"KA farmers and traders, it's now a dynamic trial. For this we will see the feedback, so that we can determine the economic value to grow growth from farmers and traders who transport their commodities by train," he said in a meeting with Commission VI at the DPR RI building. For your information, the Special Farmers' Special Economic Class (K3) Passenger Train is designed to help the mobility of farmers and traders, as well as facilitate the transportation of crops and merchandise more freely, safely, and efficiently.

This Farmer-Colder train is the result of modifications of the business and economic class train which is currently entering the testing phase.

The static test has been carried out from 14 to 15 August 2025 at the UPT Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng, then followed by a dynamical test on 15 August 2025 with the Surabaya Gubeng 'Lamongan route (going back and forth).

In addition to changing the seating layout, a number of technical details were also modified to suit this special need. The width of the border door was enlarged from 800 mm to 900 mm, partition and bordes barriers were removed to facilitate access to goods, and the number of seats was adjusted to 73 from the previous 106 seats.

KAI also continues to provide one unit toilet per train carriage. In addition, the baggage rack is also maintained for passenger convenience.
