PT Hutama Karya Persero (HK) has limited access to the Sigli Banda Aceh Toll Road Section 1 (Padang Tiji Seulimuem) specifically for the transportation of pilgrims for Aceh Hajj candidates to support the smooth mobility of pilgrims during the 1446 Hijri Hajj season.
"This limited opening was carried out after obtaining government approval to ensure the mobility of the congregation runs smoothly and safely," said Executive Vice President (EVP) of Hutama Karya's Corporate Secretary, Adjib Al Hakim in a statement in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 21.
He explained that the approval given was to support the smooth implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage in 2025/1446 H in accordance with the Letter of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Number BM0702-TL/258 dated May 14, 2025 to Hutama Karya regarding Support for Departure and Repatriation of Aceh Hajj Embarkation Pilgrims through the Sigli - Banda Aceh Toll Section 1.
The pilgrimage transportation through the toll road was submitted to the suggestion of the Deputy Governor of Aceh regarding the application for toll access for departure and repatriation of pilgrims.
"We facilitate this access specifically for official vehicles carrying pilgrims and will be limitedly opened with strict supervision from 17 to 30 May 2025 for departure, as well as 27 June to 9 July 2025 for repatriation," said Adjib.
He mentioned that since the opening of the limited access, a number of groups of prospective hajj candidates have crossed the Sigli Banda Aceh Toll Road, including on May 18, 2025 at 02.30 WIB, as many as 32 vehicles from East Aceh Regency.
On May 18, 2025 at 06.30 WIB, as many as 8 vehicles from Pidie Regency, 19 May 2025 at 06.17 WIB, as many as 20 vehicles from Bener Meriah Regency and 20 May 2025 at 12.30 WIB as many as 19 vehicles from the Lhokseumawe cluster.
Adjib added that Section 1 (Padang Tiji Seulimuem) is currently still in the construction stage and has not been fully operated to the public, but its function is very strategic in supporting the implementation of worship because it can connect and facilitate the mobility of pilgrims from the east end of the district/city in Aceh Province to Hajj Dormitory in Banda Aceh City, especially the elderly.
If via national roads, Sigli's travel time to Banda Aceh can reach 2.5 hours. But with the connection of Section 1 to Section 6 (Baitussalam), the trip only takes about 1 hour. The efficiency of the time is very large, especially for the elderly," he said.
Regarding technical in the field, Hutama Karya has carried out various previous preparations, including vehicle screening, temporary placement of signs, adequate lighting, and provision of emergency facilities along the section.
In its implementation, Hutama Karya coordinates intensively with the Aceh Provincial Government, Aceh National Road Implementation Center, Ministry of Transportation, Indonesian National Police, and other technical agencies.
He said the toll access scheme would be carried out using an open-close system, where the toll road was only opened according to the congregation's schedule and closed again after the group had finished crossing.
"This aims to maintain the safety, smoothness, and sterilization of lanes from other public transportation. Section 1 lines are only for the vehicles of the Hajj pilgrims and the committee," he said.
Meanwhile, the delivery family is directed to remain through national roads. The Hajj group continued to make transactions at the entrance gate of Padang Tiji, but the tariff for Section 1 was not charged.
