Domestic Aircraft Ticket Prices Drop 13-14 Percent During Eid 2025

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the price of domestic flight tickets for the economy class fell 13-14 percent during Eid 2025 transportation, to provide easy transportation for people who will travel during the holiday at that momentum.

"The policy of decreasing plane ticket prices is a form of the government's real commitment, to provide convenience and relief for people who want to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in their hometowns," said the Minister of Transportation in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, March 3.

It is known, the Government officially lowered the ticket price for domestic aircraft in the economic class by 13 to 14 percent during the 2025 Eid Transport period.

This policy is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction to reduce the price of aircraft tickets to ease the burden on the community, and aims to support the smooth running, ease, and comfort of community travel during the Eid Transport period.

The announcement of the ticket reduction was made at a press conference held at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Saturday (1/3), attended by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The Minister of Transportation said that the ticket price reduction was valid for 15 days, for flights from March 24 to April 7, 2025, with the ticket purchase period March 1 to April 7, 2025.

"We want to make sure people can enjoy a more affordable and comfortable trip, especially at important moments such as Eid," said Minister of Transportation Dudy.

The Minister of Transportation also said that the policy was part of the implementation of the Asta Cita Presiden Prabowo Subianto program, which aims to improve the welfare of the community and provide better public services.

In addition to lowering ticket prices, the government is committed to ensuring the availability of adequate flight capacity during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period.

The Ministry of Transportation will ensure the availability of sufficient fleets to support the safety and comfort of passengers.

"We are not only focused on decreasing prices, but also on the quality of overall flight services and safety. We will ensure the availability of adequate flight capacity and improve passenger safety and comfort," added the Minister of Transportation.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) conveyed that the policy of reducing ticket prices during the Lebaran period was the result of synergy and collaboration between ministries and stakeholders.

According to him, all parties collaborate to ensure that this price reduction can be felt directly by the community.

Thanks to the synergy between the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of SOEs, and all aviation industry stakeholders, AHY said, the government managed to reduce the cost of aviation fuel and reduce airport service costs at 37 airports.

"Incentives are added in the form of VAT, which is partly borne by the government at 6 percent. This is a form of government concern for people who want to return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families," said Coordinating Minister AHY.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that she had issued Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 18 of 2025, regarding Value Added Tax borne by the government in part, for domestic economy class aircraft tickets.

"This means that all domestic economic tickets purchased from March 1 to April 7, for flight schedules between March 24 and April 7, 2025 will be reduced by VAT, so paying taxes only 5 percent, while 6 percent is borne by the government.

"This policy is effective for those who purchase tickets starting today. For those who have already bought it, it will not be affected," said Sri Mulyani.
