Coordinating Minister Zulhas Ensures Stable Rice Prices Ahead Of Ramadan 2025

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) stated that rice commodity prices were monitored stable ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah.

Zulhas in Jakarta, Wednesday said that based on the results of a review of food prices conducted at the Klender Market, East Jakarta, the price of rice found in the market ranged from Rp. 11,000 to Rp. 13,000 per kilogram, showing a relatively stable price.

"We saw the rice IDR 11,000 per kg, IDR 12,000 per kg, IDR 13,000 per kg," said Zulhas.

Not only rice, but the Coordinating Minister for Food also said that the price of chicken meat is also relatively stable, which is sold at a price of IDR 50,000 per head, weighing around 1.8 kilograms per chicken.

In addition, chilies were found at a price of around Rp. 60,000 per kilogram, while onions were sold at a price of around Rp. 40,000 per kilogram, reflecting the appropriate retail price.

Then, the price of cooking oil also looks stable, but there is a spike in the price of bulk oil which is considered quite expensive and functions as a buffer in the event of scarcity.

"It's just bulk oil, how come it's expensive, bulk oil is actually for buffers, if what oil is scarce, there is a buffer," said Zulhas.

Previously, the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi ensured that food availability was in a safe condition ahead of Ramadan 2025.

"Towards the holy month of Ramadan, the availability of national food is safe and sufficient to meet the needs of the community," said Arief in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission IV of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 4.

He said that the government had taken strategic steps to maintain food availability, supply stability, and food prices, including strengthening government food reserves (CPP).

"Based on the projection of the food balance for the January and December 2025 periods, the update on January 21, 2025, in general the availability of 12 strategic food commodities is projected to be safe and sufficient," said Arief.

Especially for rice, continued Arief, with the carry over stock in early 2025 of 8 million tons, it is certain that food needs for the community will not experience a shortage.

Meanwhile, the government's rice reserve stock (CBP) in Perum Bulog is 1.9 million tons spread throughout Indonesia, making it easier for the government to intervene in the Stabilization of rice supplies and prices (SPHP) in various regions.

Di sisi lain, Direktur Utama Perum Bulog Wahyu Suparyono mengatakan bahwa saat ini stok berkelola mencapai 1.947.778 ton dan minyak goreng sebanyak 5.199 kilo liter.

"The general stock position and distribution of commodities are 1,947 million tons of government reserve rice commodities, then 5,199 kilo liters of cooking oil," Wahyu said at the House of Representatives Commission IV Hearing Meeting (RDP), in Jakarta, Monday, February 3.

Wahyu also conveyed that other food stocks currently occupied by Bulog are 117 tons of wheat flour, 13,612 tons of sugar, 5 tons of eggs, and 54,995 tons of PSO corn.
