Inaugurating Director General Of Oil And Gas, Bahlil Asks For Lifting And Auction Of 60 Oil And Gas WKs

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia officially inaugurated Achmad Muchtasyar as Director General of Oil and Gas (Migas). In his remarks Bahlil asked Achmad to work hard in order to increase oil lifting which has only touched 600,000 barrels per day (BOPD).

"Our relationship continues to decline every year. Our consumption increases every year if it is not converted into bioethenol and therefore I order you today as the first briefing," said Bahlil, Thursday, January 16.

Bahlil also asked Achmad to immediately coordinate with the Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) to increase oil lifting.

"And it concerns illegal drilling, all kinds of things, that the Inspector will help. So, that one concerns oil," continued Bahlil.

Furthermore, Bahlil also asked Achmad to accelerate the operation of the oil and gas working area (WK) which had been stagnant. Bahlil said, at least 60 oil and gas WKs are planned to be tendered until 2028.

"Don't hold it. Everything is carried out and immediately evaluates the work areas that have been completed by POD but haven't been traveling for more than 20 years," said Bahlil.

Bahlil also firmly asked the new Director General of Oil and Gas not to hesitate to revoke contractor permits that had not worked on oil and gas WK which had been stalled for a long time. On the same occasion, he reminded the government not to be driven by business actors.

"Especially if we have given the WK for more than 20 years, no production, no production, the state needs it. Indiscriminately, whether it is BUMN or has a private sector, it must be put in order," said Bahlil.
