JAKARTA - Coinbase turned a loss in the second quarter of 2026. The US-based crypto exchange was hit by three consecutive quarters of declining revenue as the crypto market weakened.
Anadolu Agency, quoted on Friday, July 31, reported that Coinbase's total revenue in the April-June period reached 1.22 billion US dollars. The figure fell 14 percent compared to the previous quarter.
The decline leaves Coinbase's revenue shrinking for three consecutive quarters. Previously, the company's revenue had peaked at $1.86 billion in the third quarter of 2025.
Coinbase posted a net loss of $359.5 million in the second quarter of 2026.
The performance was a sharp reversal compared to the same period last year. At that time, Coinbase still recorded a net profit of 1.42 billion US dollars.
The biggest pressure came from transaction revenue. This position fell 21 percent quarter-on-quarter to 599.2 million US dollars.
Transaction revenue is the income that the exchange earns from the activity of buying and selling crypto assets by users. When transactions weaken, revenue from this position usually goes down.
Revenue from subscription and services also weakened. It fell 5 percent from the previous quarter to 555.1 million dollars.
Anadolu noted that the total volume of spot crypto trading in the market fell 25 percent compared to the first quarter of this year.
Spot trading is a direct transaction of buying and selling crypto assets at the current market price.
Even though the market is heavy, Coinbase still recorded a positive side. The company's global share of global crypto trading volume rose to an all-time high of 10.3 percent.
Coinbase also highlighted rapid growth in the prediction market segment. This segment surpassed 100 million US dollars in annual revenue in the second quarter.
Prediction markets are services that allow users to take a position on the outcome of a particular event.
