JAKARTA - As an effort to maintain the best performance for the national economy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto asked his staff to complete several priority and flagship programs before President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin's administration was completed.

The activity, which was attended by all echelon I and II ranks of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, aims to evaluate the performance achievements of Semester I 2024 and the sharpening of work programs in 2025.
"Of course, for programs that are superior, we need to continue to be encouraged to achieve it, one of which is for digital, related to infrastructure development, it also needs to be pushed forward," he said in his statement, quoted on Sunday, July 21.
A number of specific directions were conveyed by Airlangga, namely the completion of several priority and flagship programs towards the end of the Government period, efforts to maintain price stability and food stocks, the sustainability of the Pre-Employment Card Program with a pipeline job availability & demand that is integrated with systems, development of the semiconductor industry, to the completion of the National Strategic Project (PSN) which needs to continue to be encouraged.
With various programs and strategies that have been implemented by the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Airlangga said optimism for current economic targets, as well as being able to form a strong economic foundation for the sustainability of development in the future.
However, Airlangga conveyed that the various challenges of the global economy in the future still need to continue to be mitigated, one of which is by strengthening performance in various sectors.
Even though it has been covered with various solid achievements, Airlangga said that in the future a number of challenges will still be faced by the South Sumatra Province, such as drought to commodity price fluctuations.
To reduce these challenges, Airlangga said it was necessary to increase and strengthen food production through optimizing irrigation infrastructure, utilizing the People's Business Credit Program, resolving National Strategic Projects to support connectivity, to productive investment utilization.
"I hope that various fiscal needs can also be done in more innovative ways including cooperation with banks, financial institutions, and government financing institutions such as PT SMI," said Airlangga.

Airlangga said that until the first quarter of 2024, economic growth was recorded at 5.11 percent (yoy) and was predicted to grow above 5 percent (yoy) by the end of 2024.
