JAKARTA - The government through the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani revealed that if the DPR's approval of the plan to increase the energy subsidy budget this year would certainly make the selling price of pertalite, 3 Kg LPG, and low class electricity tariffs fixed.

"We are increasing the allocation for PLN so that it is most important to prevent electricity tariffs from rising. We will increase all subsidies and compensation. This is all for the purpose of maintaining the price for pertalite, diesel, kerosene, 3KG LPG and electricity because the economic recovery is still in a very early stage and we must maintain the purchasing power of the people who have not fully recovered," he said when giving a press statement after the plenary session. For information, in the 2022 APBN the value of subsidies and energy compensation is budgeted at Rp. 152.5 trillion.

This figure was later increased to Rp443.6 trillion in order to anticipate price pressures and keep the selling price the same as it is today.

In detail, subsidies for fuel and 3 kg LPG increased from Rp. 77 trillion to Rp. 149.4 trillion. Then, the electricity subsidy rose from Rp. 56.5 trillion to Rp. 59.6 trillion. Furthermore, fuel compensation for pertalite and diesel rose from 18.5 trillion to Rp426.4 trillion.

“This means that most of the people are protected by this additional subsidy and compensation. They are all used to protect the people and the economy so that they can survive in the global situation and shocks," he said.

As for people with 3,000 VA power consumption, the government plans to make tariff adjustments, which means that this group will be subject to price increases.

"The government and the House of Representatives agree that an adjustment will be made for people who have more economic capacity, namely people with 3000 VA electricity," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
