Fishermen Asked Not To Damage Sea Ecosystems With Trawl Pukat When Catching Fish

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said fishermen were asked not to damage marine ecosystems when taking fish. Especially using trawler trawles.

"The marine ecosystem must be maintained, do not use trawler trawler," said KKP Inspector General (Inspector General) Tornanda Syaifullah quoting Antara.

This statement was made by Tornanda Syaifullah while reviewing and talking with fishermen at PPS Kutaraja Lampulo, together with the Head of the Aceh Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP) Aliman in Banda Aceh.

He said the government wanted fishermen to do well fishing, and use good fishing gear, or not using facilities that could damage the sea.

Then, fishermen are also expected not to catch all fish, but must be sorted first, considering that not all types of fish are consumed by the Acehnese people.

"Do not catch all fish in the sea. Moreover, the types of fishing gear have been regulated. So that later a good fishing economy can be created, a good ecosystem," he said.

He emphasized that the KKP continues to strive to help fishermen from upstream to downstream, starting from improving the economy, maintaining ecology for the welfare of fishermen.

In the future, added Tornanda, the KKP will also provide incentives or other things for fishermen in order to encourage improvements in fishery management in Aceh.

Tornanda again reminded Acehnese fishermen not to use trawl trawlers when going to sea because it can damage marine ecosystems which can eventually experience extinction

"Don't use trawl trawl, because it is in accordance with the letter Ar Rum (the Quran'an verse) it is stated that there was damage on the sea and on land because of human acts themselves," said Tornanda Syaifullah.
