China Has External Debt Reaching IDR 38.000 Trillion, Still Under Control

JAKARTA - China has a foreign debt of 17.32 trillion yuan in domestic and foreign currencies as of June 2021. The Bamboo Curtain's foreign debt is equivalent to USD 2.68 trillion or approximately IDR 38,000 trillion.

Reporting from Xinhua, Sunday, October 3, China ensured that all indicators of China's foreign debt were within internationally recognized thresholds and that China's foreign debt risk was under control.

In terms of maturity structure, medium and long-term external debt reached 7.57 trillion yuan or 44 percent of total debt.

Meanwhile, short-term foreign debt reached 9.74 trillion yuan or 56 percent of the total debt.

In terms of the institutional sector, general government debt amounted to 2.75 trillion yuan or 16 percent, and bank debt, 8.11 trillion yuan, or 47 percent of total debt.
