State Budget Olympiad, Sri Mulyani Wants People To Understand State Finances

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani. hopes that one day all people can understand state finances. Especially being able to read the instruments of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

This is because, so far, people's knowledge of the state budget is still limited due to a lack of understanding of the state budget in daily life.

On that basis, said Sri Mulyani, the Ministry of Finance annually holds the State Budget Olympiad. So far, according to her, discussions about the APBN (State Budget) are only understood by some people, such as in government or discussions with members of the legislature.

"The Ministry of Finance really devotes serious attention to presenting, distributing, and conveying to the public, especially the younger generation, regarding the State Budget instruments. Because a country is determined by its fate and progress by its people and nation, especially the younger generation", said Sri Mulyani, when opening the 2021 State Budget Olympiad, Sunday, September 12.

With the increasing number of students and students participating in this competition, according to Sri, they can later become ambassadors to teach understanding about the state budget both within the family and in the community.

"And after curiosity, we deepen and understand. Then even this young man becomes an ambassador who can explain to the community, to his brother, we hope for a common understanding", said Sri Mulyani.

The state treasurer explained that this time the Olympics were attended by 2,072 participants from junior high school, high school, and college students. This includes teachers who are expected to be able to teach about APBN in schools.

At this time's Olympics, in addition to the APBN debate activities, there are also competitions to make vlogs, TikTok content, scrutiny, to teaching competitions related to the State Budget.

Sri Mulyani hopes that more modern media can further increase the interest of the younger generation to want to understand state finances.

"We continue to make efforts in the form of competitions or Olympics regarding the APBN. We at the Ministry of Finance believe that the more people understand the APBN, the more people can protect it together, the more people have control over the goals and ideals to be achieved", she explained.
