Garuda Indonesia Loses In The London Arbitration Court, This Is A Prepared Step

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) lost the Arbitration lawsuit at the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).

The court's decision was in favor of the aircraft lessor Helice Leasing SAS and Atterisage SAS (Goshawk) in relation to the Company's aircraft lease payment obligations which were submitted to LCIA in early 2021.

Responding to the decision, Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra said his party respected the decision. He said, his party will also coordinate with the appointed attorney to consider steps that can be taken by the company.

Furthermore, Irfan said regarding the arbitration decision, currently Garuda Indonesia is also continuing to establish intensive communication with Goshawk to explore the best agreement in an effort to settle the company's business obligations outside the ongoing legal process.

"One of these efforts was carried out by considering the possibility of exploring restructuring schemes and other alternative supporting strategies," he said in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, September 10.

Through the communication that has been established so far, Irfan admitted that he is quite optimistic that the assessment that will be carried out can produce the best agreement for all parties.

"Especially by paying attention to the business continuity aspect amid the pressure on the aviation industry's performance during this pandemic," he said. Irfan said that in line with the LCIA decision, the company ensures that all aspects of flight operational activities will continue normally.

"Garuda Indonesia is committed to always optimizing the availability of safe, comfortable and healthy flight services for all Garuda Indonesia passengers through the implementation of health protocols in all of its operational lines," he said.
