Central Statistics Agency Reveals The Number Of Foreign Tourist Visits Reached 937.747 As Of July 2021

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the number of foreign tourists (tourists) from January to July 2021 was recorded at 937.747 visits.

The Deputy for Statistics and Services at BPS Setianto said the number fell 71.42 percent when compared to the same period in 2020 which was 3.28 visits.

"Meanwhile, in the period of July 2021, the number of foreign tourists visited was 139.000 visits with the most origin countries from Timor Leste, which amounted to 55.2 percent.

While the second is Malaysia with 32.4 percent, China 2.3 percent, and the remaining 10.2 percent from other countries", he said in a press conference broadcast virtually, Wednesday, September 1.

The decline in foreign tourist visits was also reflected in the room occupancy rate (TPK) of star classification hotels in July 2021 which decreased by minus 16.17 points month-to-month (mtm). Likewise, if compared on an annual basis (year-on-year/yoy), it fell by minus 5.69 points.

"The decreased mobility due to Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in July greatly affected the occupancy rate of five-star hotel rooms", he said.

On this occasion, Setianto also explained about the inflation that occurred in August with the amount of 0.03 percent and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.57.

Meanwhile, the highest inflation occurred in Kendari at 0.62 percent with a CPI of 108.48 and the lowest occurred in Tanjung at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 108.17.

“While the highest deflation occurred in Sorong at 1.04 percent with a CPI of 107.20 and the lowest occurred in Meulaboh, Sukabumi, and Timika at 0.03 percent each with a CPI of 109.93, then 106.56 and 108.14", he explained.
