Indofarma's COVID-19 Medicine Costs Only IDR 5.000, Erick Thohir: This Is Only For Therapy

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that the drug Ivermectin produced by PT Indofarma Tbk was used as a treatment for COVID-19, not a COVID-19 drug.

Erick Thohir said that his party continues to carry out intensive communication with the Ministry of Health because from the existing study Ivermectin is considered to be able to help preventative therapy and the price is very cheap, namely IDR 5000 to IDR 7000 per pill.

"But again, it is emphasized that this is for therapy, not COVID-19 medicine. This is part of one therapy", said Erick Thohir, quoted from his official Instagram account @erickthohir in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 22.

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises also reminded that Ivermectin is a strong drug and must be used with a prescription and under the supervision of a doctor, so it should not be taken carelessly.

"Please remember that Ivermectin is classified as a strong drug and must be used with a prescription and under the supervision of a doctor. So, never take this drug without a doctor's prescription", said Erick Thohir.

He further explained that Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug that has been used for a limited time for COVID-19 healing therapy in various countries from India to America, as well as Indonesia.

Like drugs for other diseases that have the potential to treat COVID-19. Ivermectin is still being tested for additional indications for use for COVID-19.

"But in a pandemic condition that requires fast handling and with a distribution permit from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (POM), Indofarma is ready to produce 4 million tablets per month and sell them at affordable prices in order to build the nation's independence and help deal with COVID-19", said SOE Minister Erick Thohir.

Erick also reminded the public to remain obedient and disciplined in carrying out health protocols during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

"Although maximum efforts have been made in fighting this pandemic, we must continue to prioritize the discipline of health protocols and vaccinations. Government and community cooperation will help us get out of the pandemic", said Erick Thohir.
