This Is Erick Thohir's Reason To Appoint Bambang Brodjonegoro As Telkom's President Commissioner

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir revealed the reasons for the appointment of the Minister of Research and Technology/Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) for the period 2019-2021 Prof Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro as President Commissioner (Komut) of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.

"Prof Bambang's expertise, experience, and leadership in the fields of economics, planning, and technology make him the right person to guide and provide direction, and supervision to Telkom as a driver of Indonesia's digitalization, and Indonesia's champion to compete with global players," said SOE Minister Erick Thohir in a written statement, as reported from Antara, Friday, June 11.

According to Erick Thohir, digitalization is a driving force for national economic recovery.

Previously, the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk appointed former Indonesian Minister of Research and Technology/Head of National Research and Innovation Agency Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro as President Commissioner/new Independent Commissioner of Telkom.

Bambang Brodjonegoro replaces the previous President Commissioner/Independent Commissioner of Telkom, namely Rhenald Kasali. Bambang Brodjonegoro has served as President Commissioner of PT Bukalapak.com.

Bambang Brodjonegoro himself is optimistic that startups will be able to optimize and take advantage of digital economic opportunities in Indonesia. He stated that startups in Indonesia really understand and understand the opportunities of the digital economy so that they take advantage of technological advances.

Not only that, Bambang Brodjonegoro said that this startup is also filled with millennials who are very adaptive to digital innovation, so that they are able to produce products that are able to compete in the digital economy era.

Moreover, Indonesia has a demographic bonus so that the digital economy will be more developed by directing them in terms of better education and health.
