JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has been designated as the operator of the Ruas Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur (Cisem II) Natural Gas Transmission Pipe in April 2026.
For information, Pertagas won the tender for the selection of partners carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through LEMIGAS.
This pipe is part of the Cirebon-Semarang Transmission Pipe (Cisem) where in the previous stage it has been built and operated for the Semarang-Batang section (Cisem I).
Pertagas President Director Indra P Sembiring said that Pertagas has had experience as an operator of the Cisem I Pipeline since 2023.
So the company believes that the competence and experience it has shows its readiness to operate the entire pipeline network in distributing gas to various sectors of the national natural gas user.
"The availability of integrated and reliable gas infrastructure is the key to accelerating the national energy transition with natural gas. Energy channeled through this Cisem pipeline will answer the needs of industries and various other sectors for clean energy, then also provide added value for the upstream oil and gas sector, and most importantly support economic growth in Indonesia," said Indra, Thursday, May 7.
Pipe Cisem 2, added Indra, is a National Strategic Project (PSN) that integrates the infrastructure of natural gas pipelines in Indonesia.
The existence of a natural gas well location that is different from the main natural gas user market, is currently connected through the Cirebon-Semarang Transmission Pipe and the Gresik-Semarang Transmission Pipe.
"So, the Cisem II Pipeline along ±242 km is a game changer, because it is connected to Pertagas' existing infrastructure in West Java, Central Java and East Java so that it will strengthen the reliability of distribution in the energy infrastructure on the island of Java," he continued.
Pertagas Technical & Operations Director, Agung Indri Pramantyo added that the Cisem II Pipeline network is currently integrated with the CISEM I Pipeline Route in the Batang Industrial Area (KITB) in Central Java which is operated by Pertagas and the East Kandang Haur Station (KHT), Pertagas' West Java Area Operation.
"This integration forms an integrated pipeline network system and provides flexibility in the operation and reliability of the natural gas infrastructure, especially the ones we operate," said Agung.
He added that the integration of Pipa Cisem II with the national natural gas transmission infrastructure in the Gas Subholding environment not only strengthens energy supply for strategic sectors such as refineries, fertilizers, and power plants, but also supports government programs in the development of Gas for Households and MSMEs along the pipeline.
"This effort is expected to expand energy access and strengthen national energy resilience," he continued.
