JAKARTA - The national airline Citilink became the first commercial airline to fly at Jenderal Besar Soedirman Purbalingga Airport, Central Java starting Thursday, June 3.

President Director of Citilink Juliandra said his party expresses gratitude to God Almighty for this historical record and hopes to contribute more to economic development and community mobility in the region.

“Thank God, Citilink is an airline that can make history in the world of Indonesian aviation. We are also proud to be able to participate in the process of opening this airport", he said in an official statement as quoted on Friday, June 4.

Juliandra added that Citilink is very excited to rebuild the aviation industry after being quite depressed during the pandemic. Meanwhile, the opening of the route to and from Purbalingga is proof of the company's commitment to improving conditions.

"Citilink would like to thank all stakeholders who have coordinated well so that this inaugural commercial flight can be realized and run safely and smoothly while ensuring the implementation of strict health protocols", he said.

For information, the airlines which are affiliated with Garuda Indonesia airlines serve scheduled flights from Surabaya-Purbalingga, and Purbalingga-Jakarta (Halim Perdanakusuma) which are present twice a week, namely on Thursdays and Saturdays using the ATR 72-600 fleet.

"With the faster and more efficient modes of transportation such as flights, it is hoped that it will not only facilitate the mobility of the people but also be able to better accommodate the increased flow of goods and services", concluded Juliandra.
