JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) together with PT Trans Jabar Tol (TJT) is speeding up the construction of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road or Bocimi.
The Bocimi toll road is a National Strategic Project (PSN) with a total length of 54 kilometers (km) which connects the Ciawi area in Bogor Regency with Sukabumi.
The toll road is divided into four sections, namely Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong with a length of 15.35 km, Section 2 Cigombong-Cibadak with a length of 11.05 km, Section 3 Cibadak-West Sukabumi with a length of 13.7 km and Section 4 West Sukabumi-East Sukabumi with a length of 13.05 km.
Currently, two sections of the toll road are operational, namely Section 1 and Section 2. While Section 3 is still in the construction phase and Section 4 is still in the planning phase.
Quoted from information shared by the official Instagram account @pupr_bpjt, Thursday, February 19, the progress of the construction of the Bocimi Toll Section 3 has reached 71.95 percent.
Section 3 is planned to be opened functionally without tariffs or free of charge at Lebaran 2026 homecoming. However, the section that is opened is only a part, namely from Cibadak to Karangtengah Access.
"Part of Section 3, namely Cibadak-Access Karangtengah along 4.9 km is currently being prepared to be functionalized temporarily without tariffs during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming and return flow periods," wrote BPJT.
The opening of the toll road is expected to support the smooth flow of traffic for pilgrims in the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 2026.
The Bocimi toll road is believed to be able to reduce the travel time from Jakarta to Sukabumi.
The journey from Jakarta to Sukabumi, which is usually taken around 5-9 hours via the national road, can now be drastically cut to 1.5 hours only via the Bocimi Toll Section 1 and Section 2.
While the journey from Cigombong to Cibadak which usually takes about 1.5 hours, can now be covered in only 10-15 minutes.
"The Ciawi-Sukabumi toll road plays an important role in speeding up travel time, reducing congestion on national roads, facilitating logistics distribution and encouraging regional development and economic growth, as well as improving access for the public and tourists to various flagship destinations, such as KEK Lido and other tourist areas along the Ciawi corridor to Sukabumi," he added.
