JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati invites all women in Indonesia to support and strengthen each other in facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, several surveys said that the burden of women during the pandemic showed an increase and even domestic violence occurred.

"We are all being tested. I hope that all women have the resilience, the patience to be able to manage a situation that we did not plan, but we must handle," she said when speaking at a halal bihalal event with the members of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the Ministry of Finance as reported by the page official on Monday, May 31.

The Minister of Finance added that the pandemic, which has entered its 15th month, is like running a marathon, it will not be finished in just a month or two.

"So our resilience, our endurance must be maintained, both managing the house, building communication with husband and children, and creating a comfortable home atmosphere are demands and calls that are extremely important," he said.

The minister said that women are the first schools for children. For this reason, the role of the family is quite important in early education at home.

"Because women are the person in charge at home, they are the ones who educate and nurture, and create an extraordinary influence in the family environment," he said.

In fact, the Minister of Finance also quoted the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad which said that women are the pillars of the state.

"If the woman is good, then the country is good. And vice versa," he said.

Therefore, the Minister of Finance hopes that Dharma Wanita will be a good and positive forum for all members to encourage each other. Take advantage of digital technology to expand knowledge and help to become a better human being.
