Rachmat Gobel Warns Tax Amnesty Should Not Only Apply To Conglomerates: It Needs Breakthrough!

JAKARTA - The government's plan to grant tax amnesty volume II must be clear of its objectives and target targets. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachmat Gobel, said the granting of amnesty should also be given to small economic actors, so as not only to focus on large economic entrepreneurs.

"Do not let only whiten funds abroad but fail to repatriate. There must be a combination of the two", Gobel was quoted as saying from the House of Representatives official website, Sunday, May 23.

According to him, the granting of tax amnesty the first volume in the past has not been able to net money belonging to businessmen who are stored abroad to return to the country.

The NasDem Party politician explained that granting tax amnesty to small economic actors can be given as a form of government support and concern because programs such as The People's Business Credit are experiencing many obstacles. The obstacle is because farmers, small traders, farmers, and fishermen are exposed to OJK (The Financial Services Authority) Checking or known as Bank Indonesia Checking.

This caused these small economic actors to fail to get credit for developing their businesses in agriculture, livestock, trade, and various other micros, small, and medium enterprises.

Whereas President Joko Widodo's vision of building from the periphery and the village emphasized the priority to organize and favor the small economy and the village economy.

"That means small traders, farmers, fishermen, and farmers", said the Chairman of the House of Representatives Coordinating For Industry and Development.

Gobel said the government's support for the small economy would have a multiplier effect because it could absorb a lot of labor.

Moreover, the agricultural and livestock sector concerns with national security and national economic fundamentals because it is related to national food security and sovereignty.

"But in practice there are obstacles. This has to be resolved. It needs breakthrough, courage, and courage", said Gobel.
