Purbaya Reveals 5.1 Percent Economic Growth In The Third Quarter Of 2025 Is The Initial Signal For Recovery

BOGOR - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadive stated that economic growth in the third quarter of 2025 was 5.1 percent and 5.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 was a fairly good achievement and could be the starting signal of a reversal of the national economy towards a positive trend.

"But if 5.1 (percent) means good. But for 5.5 (percent) we really expect that there will be an opposite direction of economic growth in the fourth quarter of October, November, December, from now on, next month, this month 3 months, the next 2 months, from now on," said the Media Gathering of the 2026 State Budget, Friday, October 10.

He added that the government has poured funds into the economic system since late September, which can make primary money or base money grow by 13.1 percent year-on-year, so that it can provide strong liquidity support for economic activity.

In addition, according to him, this will encourage the growth of banking credit that has begun to appear, as in Bank Mandiri which recorded credit growth from 8 percent to 11 percent.

"Now I expect it to grow even faster," he said.

Furthermore, Purbaya emphasized that the current source of economic growth comes from two sides, namely government spending and the private sector.

He also ensured that budget absorption by ministries and agencies would be accelerated, even giving ultimatums that unabsorbed funds until the end of October would be diverted to other more prepared programs.

"Then the private sector I think with credit growth, with a lot of finance in the economic system, with the increase in public spending because the money is there, it should grow above 5.5 percent," he said.

He stated that if this trend continues, then Indonesia will enter a faster phase of economic growth.

"In the future, I think it will be even faster because I will continue to see what kind of money it is in the system, what kind of spending it is in the system, and we will also cut the legs of all obstacles that exist in the economy. 2026 will definitely be brighter than in 2025," he concluded.
