JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Land Transportation will immediately arrange a small team to accelerate the handling of over-dimension overload (ODOL) aka obese trucks.
The Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that this step was taken in order to support the implementation of the 2027 ODOL zero policy.
"The formation of this small team is also a follow-up to the Coordination Meeting with the leadership of the Ministry, the leadership of the DPR RI, the Ministry of State Secretariat and the Association of Goods Transport Drivers which was held on October 1, 2025," said Aan in an official statement, Monday, October 6.
Aan explained that the purpose of the formation of this small team was to formulate steps to accelerate the revision of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, especially in aspects of law enforcement and driver protection.
This small team will also prepare a periodic evaluation mechanism for the effectiveness of policies and handling more dimensional vehicles and cargo throughout the region. Although, until now, each Ministry/Institution in parallel has also conducted an evaluation," he said.
Later, continued Aan, the team will guarantee cross-sectoral synergy so that policies not only reduce the number of violations but can also improve driver and safety welfare.
Meanwhile, as an effort to improve welfare, including the aspirations of goods transport drivers, through this team, there will be an improvement in the quality of driver human resources by implementing competency standards and implementing driver training.
Aan hopes that this will be a form of government's presence for the welfare of drivers who will eventually realize traffic safety.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Integration and Multimoda, Risal Wasal, said that the existence of more dimensional and more charge vehicles is the impact of various problems such as economic and safety problems.
"Therefore, this problem must be resolved from upstream to downstream so that the safety aspect of the freight transportation system increases," he said.
