Ministry Of Public Works Builds Phase II People's School In Kupang Next October

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets the construction of a phase II junior high school (SRMP) in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, to be built starting October 2025.

"Sekarang masih proses tender, saya pikir awal Oktober sudah mulai groundbreaking dan dibangun," ujar Menteri PU Dody Hanggodo dalam keterangan tertulisnya, Sabtu, 20 September.

Dody explained, after the people's schools were just completed, later the students of SRMP 19 Kupang who are currently studying in the old building will be moved to a new location. "The location is approximately six kilometers from SRMP now," he said.

He targets that the new building can be completed by the end of June 2026, so that children can occupy new schools in the 2026 school year.

"The land is wider, the quality is higher, more stable. God willing, in July 2026, the children have moved to the school we built," he said.

The SRMP 19 Kupang is one of 63 Phase I SRs that have been renovated by the Ministry of Public Works. This school functions as a means of junior high school education with two study groups that accommodate 100 students, consisting of 45 female students and 55 male students.

The renovation construction work was carried out by the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works from May 10 to July 13, 2025 and has been used for teaching and learning activities since July 14, 2025.

The renovations include 23 buildings, consisting of four classrooms, two male dormitories, four female dormitories, two teacher dormitories and educators, two kitchen and dining rooms, two places of worship, five educational facilities (laboratorium), one health facility and one sports field.
