Badanas Hopes Bulog Strengthens SPHP Rice Distribution In The Market

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) hopes that Bulog will strengthen the distribution of rice stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP), as an effort to maintain stability in rice prices in the market.

Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization I Gusti Ketut Astawa said the government had targeted to distribute 1.3 million tons of SPHP rice by December 2025.

"This is still a need for improvement, we have always collaborated with Bulog's friends to accelerate strengthening rather than distribution. Because in the field there are still many who have not received SPHP rice and so on," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 26.

He conveyed that Bulog must strengthen the distribution of SPHP rice to the market.

Currently, the state-owned company can distribute 7,000 tons of SPHP rice per day.

He made sure the rice stock until the end of this year was safe.

Based on the 2025 National Food Balance Projection, rice production for a year is projected to reach 31.37 million tons, so that the total availability of these commodities can reach 40.31 million tons.

The total availability of rice comes from a year's production of 31.37 million tons, plus the initial stock of 2025, namely 8.4 million tons and imports of rice specifically for 532 thousand tons.

From that, the rice balance at the end of 2025 was obtained 9.33 million tons after the total availability of 40.31 million tons was reduced by the total consumption requirement a year of 30.97 million tons.

Previously, Bapanas also prepared an estimated production of rice from January to December 2025 which is estimated to reach 33.52 million tons.

The calculation comes from the projected production of rice from January to September from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which at 28.22 million tons was added to the average production in October-December in the last 3 years which was obtained at 5.3 million tons.

"Especially for rice, this depends on national production in the next 3-4 months. But from projections and made on average, the figure can be 33.52 million tons of rice equivalent. That's if we have used the average production in the last 3 years. So we don't need to import rice," said Head of Badanas Arief Prasetyo Adi in Jakarta, Friday, August 22, 2025.

Meanwhile, if the rice production rate from January to December 2025 can be reached by 33.52 million tons, then the acquisition is almost close to the highest national rice production record in the last 8 years.

Tercatat produksi beras tahun 2018 dengan 33,94 juta ton masih menjadi angka tertinggi produksi beras dalam negeri.

Di sisi lain, Arief mengungkapkan, stok beras Bulog yang bersumber dari importasi tahun 2024 saat ini masih tersisa 1 juta ton.

Arief juga memastikan proses impor tahun 2024 sudah selesai dan tidak ada lagi di 2025.

"Khusus untuk beras luar negeri itu sekarang sisanya 1 juta ton. Usia simpannya yang 7-12 bulan ada 896.000 ton. Tapi impor sudah selesai tahun lalu dan tidak ada impor tahun ini," katanya.

On the other hand, Arief revealed, Bulog rice stocks sourced from imports in 2024 currently still have 1 million tons left.

Arief also ensured that the import process in 2024 was completed and no longer in 2025.

"Especially for foreign rice, now the remaining 1 million tons. The shelf life of 7-12 months is 896,000 tons. But imports were completed last year and there were no imports this year," he said.
