PT PLN (Persero) distributed free electricity connection assistance to 2,821 welfare families throughout Indonesia.

This assistance was distributed simultaneously in 38 provinces through the Light Up The Dream (LUTD) program on Wednesday, August 20.

For information, LUTD is a free electricity connection installation assistance program for Prosperous families who live in electrified areas, but have not been able to connect electricity to their homes.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, explained that the activities originating from the initiation and voluntary donations of PLN employees have been carried out since 2020 and have succeeded in providing free connections to 37,088 customers throughout Indonesia.

"This year, as of August 2025, 7,978 prosperous families in 38 provinces have received free electricity connections through the program," he said, Thursday, August 21.

In the future, PLN ensures that the LUTD program will continue and reach more families in need, especially in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas as part of PLN's great mission to realize energy justice for all.

"We believe that access to electricity is the opening door to progress. With the presence of electricity, children can learn, families can be more productive, and the economy and the quality of life of the community also increases," continued Darmawan.

Romi Wahyudi, a resident of Ulak Karang Utara, Padang, West Sumatra who is one of the beneficiaries of the LUTD program, expressed his gratitude for the assistance for connecting the electricity provided. He said that every day he and his family had to live with full limitations without electricity, even for lighting.

"I would like to thank all PLN employees from the center to the regions. Thank God, I enjoyed the free electricity that was given to PLN. Hopefully, thanks to this, my family can make better use of it," said Romi.

Not only beneficiaries, this program also received a positive response from the Regional Government. The Governor of Southwest Papua, Elisa Kambu, appreciated the initiation program of this PLN employee, which consistently provides access to electricity for underprivileged communities.

"A great appreciation for PLN with Light Up The Dream or electricity lighting in Southwest Papua. On this occasion we convey that the Provincial Government of Southwest Papua provides full support for this program and is expected to continue in the future. Let's fight together for our people to enjoy electricity," said Elisa.

We wish PLN the best to continue to ensure that Indonesia is on," said Sherly.
