Downstreaming Is The Government's Focus, Prabowo Alludes To Natural Resources Must Be Managed For The People, Not A Few Groups

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government is focusing on expanding downstreaming.

Therefore, he reminded, so that natural resources (SDA) must be managed for the sake of the people, not for the sake of a handful of people.

"Natural resources must be managed for the sake of the people, not for the sake of a handful of Indonesian human groups. We will expand the Hilirization," he said in a speech on the 2026 Financial Note and RAPBN, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

Prabowo said the expansion of downstreaming would have an impact on the opening of a wider new job. Including added value from natural resource management.

Even so, Prabowo emphasized that the added value of the downstream natural resources management must remain in the country.

He warned other countries not to enjoy the addition of Indonesian natural resources.

"We will create jobs, we must maximize added value and the added value must remain in our country, Indonesia, not be taken abroad," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto claimed that the unemployment rate had been reduced to its lowest level since 1998. However, he did not specify the exact figure.

"Alhamdulillah, today the national unemployment rate has succeeded in dropping to its lowest level since the 1998 crisis," he said at the MPR RI Annual Session and the 2025 DPR-DPD RI Joint Session, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

However, Prabowo said the achievement did not just come. He said, one of the keys to encouraging job creation is the acceleration of investment, especially in the downstream sector.

"To accelerate investment in downstream, natural resources and various strategic fields, to create quality employment opportunities, we together with the DPR have formed what we call the Indonesian Danantara Investment Management Agency," he said.

Prabowo bilang, Danantara akan menjadi lembaga pengelola investasi aset dengan nilai 1 triliun dolar AS.

Lembaga ini juga diyakini akan menciptakan lapangan kerja baru.

“Danantara akan menciptakan jutaan lapangan kerja berkualitas terutama di bidang hilirisasi,” tuturnya.

Prabowo said, Danantara will become an asset investment management institution with a value of 1 trillion US dollars.

This institution is also believed to create new jobs.

"The antara will create millions of quality jobs, especially in the downstream sector," he said.
