JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Logistik (KAI Logistik) has again strengthened its commitment to supporting the national halal logistics ecosystem by accelerating the addition of a halal certified terminal in 2025.
This step is part of the company's strategy to provide logistics services that are not only reliable but also meet customers' specific needs for halal product distribution, in line with regulations set by the government.
Previously, KAI Logistics had officially obtained a halal certificate from the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) with the number ID00410018283070424 on June 14, 2024 for the distribution service type. This certification includes three main terminals, namely the Lagoa River Goods Terminal, the Klari Area Goods Terminal, and the Kalimas Area Goods Terminal.
In 2025, KAI Logistics targets the addition of one halal certified terminal, namely the Ronggowarsito Area Goods Terminal in Semarang, with a target of completing the certification process in the third quarter of 2025.
President Director of KAI Logistics, Fredi Firmansyah, said that in 2025, his party will expand halal certification to Ronggowarsito Terminal, and in the future it is possible that all of our logistics terminals can be certified halal.
"This is part of our long-term vision to ensure customer confidence, especially in the distribution of products that are obligatory to be halal according to the Decree of the Minister of Religion Number 748 of 2021 and Number 944 of 2024," he said in a written statement, Thursday, July 17.
Agus Suryanto, as the Head of the Halal Audit Agency (LPH) of PT Sucofindo, expressed his appreciation for KAI Logistics' commitment.
"KAI Logistics shows its seriousness in ensuring the halal logistics ecosystem. In this case, KAI Logistics plays an important role in ensuring product distribution runs according to halal principles. They are also the first SOEs in the logistics sector to actively carry out the halal certification process," said Agus.
This service increase is also in line with the trend of container transportation growth through rail modes in the last three years. Data from 2022 to 2024 shows a stable recovery and growth trend, with an average annual increase of more than 10 percent. In fact, in 2024 recorded the highest container transport volume in the last five years with a volume of 2.3 million tons.
This reflects the increasing customer confidence in rail modes as a reliable and efficient logistical choice. This condition opens up great opportunities for KAI Logistics to provide services with added value, including halal guarantees in the distribution process.
The addition of halal-certified service points by KAI Logistics not only provides sharia compliance guarantees for customers in the halal industry sector, such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other Fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products, but also strengthens the company's position as a strategic logistics partner who is able to support the smooth supply chain of halal products by end-to-end, both domestic and export markets.

Furthermore, Fredi emphasized that KAI Logistics is committed to supporting the fulfillment of national regulations regarding the obligation to fully enforce halal certification starting in 2026, as stated in Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024 concerning Halal Product Guarantee, as well as Presidential Regulation Number 6 of 2023 concerning the National Halal Ecosystem.
In addition to carrying the value of compliance with halal standards, the use of train modes on Logistics KAI services also has a positive impact on the environment. Utilization of train modes in the logistics supply chain has proven to be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly than road-based transportation. A series of Container trains are capable of transporting 30 flat carriages or the equivalent of 60 trucks with a capacity of 20 tons. Thus, the transfer of loads from truck road modes to trains is able to reduce the significant amount of carbon emissions produced.
"KAI Logistics continues to be committed to becoming a pioneer in logistics services based on halal, efficient, and sustainable, and is ready to support the government in building Indonesia as the center of the halal industry," concluded Fredi.
