JAKARTA - Pertamina NRE emphasized that it is ready to carry out a series of green energy projects throughout 2025.

Pertamina NRE CEO John Anis said his party would explore various potential new renewable energy resources, to open cooperation with various strategic partners, not only deeply, but also abroad.

"We explore the wind to Nuclear, we explore various potential clean energy. While one vision. We will certainly carry out potential cooperation," said Jon, Monday, March 10.

John conveyed the achievement of operational performance and various plans for Pertamina NRE Group in the future.

He explained that throughout the 2024 period the company managed to record a positive performance and in terms of safety it was very good, without fatality.

John explained various future projects that will be the company's main focus in supporting green energy in Indonesia.

One of the projects to be developed is the expansion of geothermal energy, such as at Lumut Balai, South Sumatra, Lampung, and North Sulawesi as well as various innovations from geothermal utilization which is one of Pertamina NRE's focuses through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO).

"Development of geothermal energy is our top priority because Indonesia has great potential in this sector," he explained.

He also added that geothermal utilization can be a sustainable solution in the provision of clean energy in the country.

Therefore, the company will continue to explore various opportunities for cooperation to accelerate the development of this project.

In addition to geothermal, Pertamina NRE also plans to work on the Flare Gas To Power project.

This project will be carried out together with PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional to optimize the use of flare gases from the refinery.

Thus, the energy that has been wasted so far can be converted into electricity, which can then be used for refinery operations and other purposes.

John said this initiative was part of the company's energy efficiency strategy and carbon emissions reduction.

"We want to ensure that every available resource can be utilized optimally, so that no energy is wasted," he said.

He also emphasized that this project is in line with Pertamina's vision to become a leader in the energy transition in Indonesia.

Supporting Net Zero Emission 2060, Pertamina NRE also continues to develop carbon trading in Indonesia.

After initiizing carbon trading in 2023 Pertamina NRE will optimize the use of carbon credit from various renewable energy projects, including geothermal, solar PV, and biomass.

With this scheme, Pertamina NRE can sell carbon loans to companies that need compensation for the emissions they generate, thus helping balance national emissions and encouraging investment in the green energy sector.

"We want to contribute to reducing emissions by utilizing Indonesia's great potential in clean energy and ensuring a transparent and sustainable carbon trading ecosystem," said John.
