Badanas Ensure Safe Food Stock Ahead Of Ramadan 2025

Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi ensures the availability of food in a safe condition ahead of Ramadan 2025.

"Towards the holy month of Ramadan, the availability of national food is safe and sufficient to meet the needs of the community," said Arief in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission IV of the DPR RI in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 5.

He said that the government had taken strategic steps to maintain food availability, supply stability, and food prices, including strengthening government food reserves (CPP).

"Based on the projection of the food balance for the January and December 2025 periods, the update on January 21, 2025, in general the availability of 12 strategic food commodities is projected to be safe and sufficient," said Arief.

Especially for rice, continued Arief, with the carry over stock in early 2025 of 8 million tons, it is certain that food needs for the community will not experience a shortage.

Meanwhile, the government's rice reserve stock (CBP) in Perum Bulog is 1.9 million tons spread throughout Indonesia, making it easier for the government to intervene in the Stabilization of rice supplies and prices (SPHP) in various regions.

On the other hand, the national average price of unhulled rice at the producer level has reached Rp6,498 per kilogram (kg). This is starting to approach the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of Rp6,500 per kg according to President Prabowo Subianto's order in order to encourage efforts to realize rice self-sufficiency.

"In general, national food prices show stable figures, but there are several commodities at the producer level which are still below the Purchase Reference Price (HAP) including dry cheek corn, shallots, and broiler meat," he said.

Meanwhile, at the consumer level, the price commodity is above the HAP or the highest retail price, including Minya Kita, red cayenne pepper, curly red chilies, and medium rice.

The food balance projection also shows that the national food availability in 2025 is under controlled conditions. Some of the main commodities such as rice, corn, and beef have sufficient stock.

"The final stock of rice is projected to reach 9.97 million tons, the stock of corn is 5.1 million tons, while the stock of beef-cash reaches 42,867 tons," he said.

As an effort to maintain a balance between the interests of farmers and consumers, the government has set a HPP for grain and rice. The HPP of Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) at the farmer level is set at IDR 6,500 per kg, while the price of rice in Perum Bulog's warehouse is IDR 12,000 per kg.

"With these strategic steps, Badanas is optimistic that food needs during Ramadan and so on will still be met at stable prices, ensuring the welfare of farmers, traders, and the wider community," said Arief.
