JAKARTA - PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia (PLN EPI) formed a Joint Venture by cooperating with three strategic partners to develop LNG infrastructure.
This step was marked by the signing of Shareholders' Agreement (SHA) between PLN EPI and the PT AGP Indonesia Utama Consortium, PT Suasa Benua Sukses, and PT KPM Oil & Gas to form a Special Purpose Company in the Maluku Sulawesi Cluster power plant gasification project.
The President Director of PLN EPI, Iwan Agung Firstantara, explained that this project was designed to replace the use of fuel to LNG to answer energy needs in the electricity sector in Sulawesi and Maluku, which have been partly dependent on fuel.
"This project is not just building LNG infrastructure, but a strategic step to strengthen the role of gas as reliable, sustainable, and domestically sourced transitional energy. With the synergy between PLN EPI and strategic partners, we are optimistic that we can support the acceleration of energy transition while at the same time supporting energy security, especially in the Sulawesi and Maluku regions," said Iwan Agung, Wednesday, January 22.
Furthermore, Iwan added, this collaboration is not only a short-term solution to replace fuel oil with higher emissions, but also a major support for renewable energy.
