JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) and Apple have carried out investment negotiations today at the Ministry of Industry's office, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 7. It is known that the negotiation process between the two parties is scheduled to take place on January 7-8, 2025.

When met by reporters, Apple's Vice President of Global Policy Nick Amman gave a positive signal over this inaugural discussion. Even so, Nick was reluctant to give a blatant response regarding the ongoing discussion process.

"It's a great discussion," said Nick at the Ministry of Industry office, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 7.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, in this negotiation his party did not set a special target time when investment certainty could be obtained. He emphasized that his party still encourages Apple to fulfill four principles of justice.

"I convey that we have not set a time frame. It could be an agreement today, tonight, tomorrow, next week or next month. So, (for) the time we did not set, the target we set was the substance," said Agus.

The four principles of justice prioritized by the Ministry of Industry for Apple's investment plan in Indonesia, namely investment in Apple in other countries, investment in other HKT producers (outside of Apple) in Indonesia, creation of added value and income for Indonesia and absorption of labor in the ecosystem.

Previously, the Ministry of Industry was scheduled to hold a meeting with Apple on January 7-8, 2025 in Jakarta.

"We will only negotiate with the Apple headquarters of the US (United States). Thank God, Apple will send a high official level directly from America to negotiate with the Ministry of Industry January 7-8," Agus said.
