Supporting 13 Years Of Learning, Ministry Of Public Works Will Renovate 11,420 Schools

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) will build or renovate 11,420 school units, starting from kindergarten, elementary, junior high, high school/vocational school/SLB/and others as well as madrasas.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said this was done to support the 13-year compulsory program.

"Quick win of the Ministry of Public Works, namely supporting the obligation to study for 13 years through the construction and renovation of schools or madrasas in various corners of the country," said Dody when giving a speech at the 79th Public Works Bhakti Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Public Works Ministry Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 3.

In addition, Dody also said that the Ministry of Public Works supports the food security program launched by President Prabowo Subianto.

Food security support is carried out through optimizing the benefits of dams that have been built and the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks.

"Building roads and bridges to support connectivity to food centers, including Food Estates in Central Kalimantan, Merauke (South Papua), East Nusa Tenggara and others," he said.

As for the past decade, 53 of the 61 dams have been completed.

Then an irrigation network of 1.24 million hectares (ha) has also been built, flood control infrastructure and 2,041 kilometers (km) of coastal safety.

"The Cipta Karya area, the construction of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) is 36,380 liters per second, the handling of sanitation and waste for 13.7 million families and the handling of residential areas covering an area of 94,320 ha," he concluded.
