JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir appointed Maya Watono as President Director of BUMN Holding in the aviation and tourism sector, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney.

The decision to determine Maya as President Director of InJourney was taken based on the results of the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) of PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) on Thursday afternoon, November 21.

Maya Watono was appointed to replace Dony Oskaria who was appointed by President Prabowo Subianto to become Deputy Minister of SOEs for the period 2024 to 2029.

Before occupying the position of President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono was Director of Marketing and Tourism Program InJourney since January 14, 2022. He was then appointed as Acting President Director of InJourney on October 21, 2024.

Pgs. Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney, Yudhistira Setiawan said Maya Watono was appointed as President Director of InJourney through the Decree of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises as shareholder Number SK-282/MBU/11/2024.

During his time as Director of Marketing and Tourism Programs as well as Acting President Director, Mrs. Maya Watono has shown her strong dedication and has succeeded in overseeing InJourney in carrying out its transformation, and has become one of the BUMN Holdings that plays an important role in the economy, especially in the tourism and aviation industry sector," he said in an official statement, Friday, November 22.

With the appointment of Maya Watono as President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono is also the youngest female president director in a state-owned company. The appointment of Maya Watono is also a manifestation of SOE Minister Erick Thohir's efforts to continue to encourage women's leadership in BUMN.

Maya Watono was born in Jakarta on May 12, 1982. She completed her studies as an Economist at the University of Western Australia in 2004 and earned a Bachelor of Science at the same university.

Maya's career began in the world of advertising agencies 17 years ago. She has served as General Manager of Dwi Sapta Group (2007-2014) and CEO of Dwi Sapta Group (2015-2018). Maya Watono has also been the first and youngest woman to occupy the position of Country CEO of Dentsu Indonesia (2019-2022).

Some of the awards that have been won by Maya Watono include being selected as Woman Leading Change Asia organized by Campaign Asia in 2019, entering as 40 Under 40 Fortune Indonesia in 2022.

Maya was also elected as the Indonesia Women Business Leader organized by SWA Magazine, and was elected Asia-Pacific's 50 Most Influential and Purposeful Marketers #AutehenticLeader in 2024.
