JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized the importance of the role of the construction sector to support infrastructure development which is the key to economic growth towards advanced and prosperous Indonesia.

"ToWARDs an increasingly advanced and prosperous Indonesia, sustainable development is needed. The development of infrastructure and housing will support it all," said AHY when giving a speech at the opening of the 2024 Indonesian Construction (KI) at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday 6 November.

According to AHY, the 2024 KI, which carries the theme 'Agility and Adaptability of the Competitive Construction Sector', is very relevant to current conditions amidst climate change and world uncertainty. This condition requires nations, including Indonesia, to have competitiveness and durability.

Therefore, AHY encourages all stakeholders to improve competence and adaptive to the impact of urbanization and climate change, as well as technological advances to increase the resilience of the country's industry. He also invited all parties to work together and collaborate to realize sustainable development throughout Indonesia.

"Disruption will continue to occur. We must be resilient in facing rapid advances in the field of technology, including construction technology. We must master this, and we must not be left behind from other countries. We must have the ability to increase domestic production and use it optimally," AHY said.

In line with the direction of Coordinating Minister AHY, as a company providing building materials solutions, GIS is ready to collaborate with various parties, especially stakeholders in the construction sector, to support the government in building infrastructure and housing throughout Indonesia in a sustainable manner.

At the 'Gile and Adaptive' Construction Supply Chain Collaboration and Innovation Conference held in a series of KI 2024 activities at ICE BSD City on Thursday 7 November, GIS President Director Donny Arsal expressed his commitment to support the government in infrastructure and housing development through the provision of green cement and green solutions.

In addition to being environmentally friendly with lower carbon emission rates of up to 38 percent compared to conventional cement, GIS green cement and derivative products also contain domestic components (TKDN) which are higher than 90 percent. The value of TKDN green cement SIG is higher than that stipulated in the Minister of PUPR Regulation Number 21 of 2021 which is 40 percent.

GIS green Cement comes with a complete specification range, all of which have been certified by SNI, to adapt to the characteristics of each type of application and need, so that it is more efficient. This complete product variation is to provide harmony and flexibility to consumers in choosing the building materials needed," said Donny Arsal.

GIS is not complacent and does not stop at green cement innovation. The company introduced one of its green cement derivative products, namely the precise interlock brick (PIB) for effective, efficient, and earthquake-friendly home construction solutions. The use of an interlock brick precise also makes construction duration faster, and looks modern.

"PIB has been applied to various housing projects, such as in Sulthan Residence, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra. In addition, PIB has also been applied to the example of type 36 environmentally friendly site occupancy in IKN (Nusantara Capital) which was built within 15 days. This innovation is expected to support the government in providing habitable houses for the community, in order to overcome housing backlogs in Indonesia," said Donny Arsal.

GIS also positively welcomes the implementation of KI 2024 which is a momentum for the Company to introduce green cement products and green solutions that are innovative and environmentally friendly to the public, especially stakeholders in the construction sector.

"This event is very important for SIG, how is the presence of GIS to introduce innovative new products, especially related to housing solutions," said Donny Arsal.

According to him, the presence of GIS in the 2024 KI is also a support for the 3 million houses development program launched by the government.

KI 2024 is a meeting and exchanging information for the world of construction between stakeholders in the construction sector in Indonesia. Carrying the theme Agility and Adaptability of the Competitive Construction Sector, KI 2024 is enlivened with various activities, including exhibitions and awards. Construction of Indonesia 2024, conferences, national-level construction workers competition, Proud National Movement Made in Indonesia (BBI) and Proud to Travel in Indonesia (BBWI), the preparation of the 2024 Indonesian Construction book, as well as photo and video competitions.
