BANDUNG PT Geo Dipa Energi targets geothermal energy contribution to reach 10 percent in Indonesia's energy mix in the next two years.
This is in line with the increasing interest of investors to participate in the development of new and renewable energy, especially geothermal.
Director of Commercial Development and Geo Dipa Energi Exploration Ilen Kardani said that currently the geothermal energy mix has only reached around 1 percent.
However, with the addition of a capacity of up to 260 GW in the next two years, it is hoped that geothermal contributions can increase to 10 percent of the total national energy mix.
"Our energy supply now has 120 GW (Giga Watt), a total of 2,300 GW in Indonesia, so that around 1 percent is less. In the next two years we will have 260 GW, so that our status goes up to 10 percent of the energy mix for geothermals," said Ilen at a media briefing event in Bandung on Thursday, November 7.
To note, Geothermal is a source of Indonesia's heat energy which is a source of clean and renewable energy, stable, does not depend on the weather, and has great potential to support the green energy transition in Indonesia.
Ilen said that currently his party has received many offers of cooperation from various investors who are interested in being involved in the development of geothermal projects.
"There are so many enthusiasts who already want to invest in Geo Dipa, almost every month we receive a cooperation offer for geothermal development.
Why? The world is now being pushed towards green energy. Geo Dipa received a lot of offers for investment actually, which cannot be mentioned one by one, but the number is more than 10, "he said.
As part of the government's commitment to support the use of renewable energy, it is stated in Law Number 21 of 2014 concerning Geothermal that regulates the use of geothermal energy to support national energy security, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve people's welfare.
Ilen said that currently, PT Geo Dipa Energi is focusing on developing geothermal projects in Dieng, with a funding commitment for units III and IV, as well as cooperation for the development of units VI and VII.
Ilen also mentioned that PT Geo Dipa Energi is in a favorable position as a pioneer in the green energy sector in Indonesia, especially with the potential for implementing a carbon tax in the future.
"Fortunately we are already in the green energy zone, others are still here (fossil), we are already in green, so we are an investment destination for green energy. Because later in the future, if Indonesia imposes carbon tax, green energy will become more passionate," he said.
According to Ilen, the potential for investment in the renewable energy sector in Indonesia is very large, especially with the increasing number of interested international investors. For example, the Patuha Unit II project, which has not been completed, has received a grant offer of 10 million US dollars to buy carbon credit.

Meanwhile, the Director of State Assets Separated by the Ministry of Finance, Meirijal Nur, added that the government also provides support through relaxation of the provisions of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).
This aims to facilitate the development of geothermal projects, especially those involving components that have not been produced domestically, such as turbines.
"Of course there is leniency from the government, which is part of the government's support for this geothermal development," said Meirijal.
