Unaffordable For Small Communities, The Rental Price Of The Grass Market Flats Is Asked To Drop To IDR 1.25 Million

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait highlighted the rental price of flats (rusun) in Pasar Rumput Jakarta which is considered too expensive, so it is not affordable for small communities.

The man who is familiarly called Ara explained that the flat has 1,984 units with each unit consisting of two rooms and is equipped with air conditioning.

Of these units, approximately 1,000 units are marketed because some are used to accommodate people affected by the relocation of the Ciliwung River.

"Good condition," said Ara, quoted on Tuesday, October 29.

Ara assessed that the rental price offered at Rp. 3.5 million per month was too high for low-income people (MBR).

According to him, the price was clearly not on target and asked for it to be reviewed. "With good intentions, I ask that it be canceled and I ask for it to be calculated (the amount of the rental price again)," said Ara.

The ideal rental price, according to Ara, is IDR 1.25 million per month after being calculated with the operational needs of the Grass Market Flats of IDR 18 billion per year.

"Imagine at the grass market, (the unit) is clean (wearing) air conditioning, 2 rooms. If you give (the price) IDR 1.25 million for the small people, are you happy? Given to ASN is it happy or not?" said Ara.

"Praise God, we were able to find a way out and agree on a more affordable rental price," he concluded.
