BANDUNG - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Development Center through the Center for the Development of Electricity, New Energy, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (PPSDM KEBTKE) welcomes the arrival of delegates from four countries in Africa. They undergo training to improve competence in the field of solar energy.

The Coordinator of the PPSDM KEBTKE Program, Cooperation and Evaluation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hertiyo Sembodo, said that this training was not only focused on theoretical aspects, but also provided opportunities for participants to make field visits to the Cirata Solar Power Plant (PLTS), West Bandung Regency and PT Surya Energi Indotama (PT SEI) in Bandung City.

"We want to make a positive contribution to countries in Africa to realize the energy transition in the world, especially in Africa," Hertiyo said in Bandung, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, October 27.

The four African countries that participated in training in the solar energy sector were Namibia, Senegal, Tanzania, and Mozambique with a total of 13 delegates, as well as two teachers from Turkey.

This training has taken place on October 21-26, 2024 with the concept of learning in the renewable energy sector, especially solar panels or solar photovoltaics (SPV).

"Within the past six days, a series of trainings have been filled with positive activities, creating discussions, exchanging ideas and experiences with more in-depth substance," said Hertiyo.

Furthermore, he said, this training was held as a follow-up to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey on the sidelines of the G20 Summit (KTT) in Nusa Dua Bali in 2022.

In the MoU, he said, the two countries agreed to accelerate and ensure a sustainable, fair, affordable, and inclusive energy transition.

"This activity is one proof that Indonesia keeps its promise listed in the G20 to increase human capacity for countries in Africa," he said.

Hertiyo hopes that the training from these delegates can improve competence in the solar energy sector and encourage further cooperation between Indonesia and African countries in the development of renewable energy.

"We hope that the participants will get potential as experts so that they can play an important role as experts in developing renewable energy," said Hertiyo.

In addition to visiting the renewable energy sector, the participants also had the opportunity to take thectionsh high-speed train from Jakarta to Bandung City, and visit the Bandung Geological Museum.
