TEI 2024 Implementation Is Forwarded, Zulhas: Let Can Be The Last Speech Before Lengser

JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag), Zulkifli Hasan said the annual trade show, Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2024 was deliberately pushed forward for its implementation time. TEI is usually held every end of October.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas admitted that he asked for the 39th TEI to be promoted this year, because he wanted to give his last speech as Minister of Trade of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet in front of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"The Trade Expo Indonesia should be held this year, usually at the end of October. But we deliberately advance this from the approval of all parties, on October 9 to 12, so that there is an opportunity for me to have my last speech in front of you, God willing, sir," he said in his presentation, quoted by the YouTube Ddri of the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, October 8.

In front of Jokowi, Zulhas also paid attention to the transaction value of the TEI exhibition which increased rapidly in 10 years starting from 2014. In fact, the increase reached 2,078 percent.

"In 2014, or 10 years ago, still at Jiexpo Kemayoran, the first Trade Expo Indonesia administration of President Joko Widodo resulted in transactions of 1.4 billion US dollars, 10 years ago. Last year, 2023, TEI's total transactions reached 30.5 billion US dollars," he said.

Zulhas revealed that until this morning, 1,460 export fighter businesses had enlivened TEI. The number of buyers aka buyers from abroad continues to increase.

"This morning, more or less 7,000 buyers have registered from abroad. Usually at the end of the exhibition it reaches 30 thousand people," he said.

Furthermore, Zulhas said that this year's Trade Expo is also more focused and comprehensive to create an innovative and specific image of Indonesian products through three zones.

The first is food, beverage, and agriculture; two manufacturing; three homelife, fashion, and services," he explained.

Zulhas also said that this year's TEI was different because the Ministry of Trade collaborated with the Ministry of Religion.

"This year is also special, because we are working with the Ministry of Religion to present Halal Pavilion. Because we have the same report on this halal hub trade, now it has been widely promoted with Thailand," he said.
