BI Values Fashion Sector As A Creative Industry Machine In Bali

JAKARTA - The Bali Province Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office assesses that the fashion and wastra sectors have the opportunity to become a growth engine for the creative industry on the Island of the Gods because they encourage jobs and the regional economy.

"It will have an impact on strengthening the tourism sector in Bali," said Bali Province BI Representative Head Erwin Soeriadimadja as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 30.

For this reason, the central bank provides assistance and a forum to young designers through the Bali Fashion Trend, an annual fashion event held together with the Denpasar Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC).

In addition to inspiring, he continued, this event can also foster creativity and innovation, including sustainable fashion and support the development of MSMEs in the fashion sector.

BI noted that economic growth in Bali grew 5.36 percent in the second quarter of 2024 or higher than the national growth achievement which reached 5.05 percent.

"So we must continue to maintain and improve, not only tourism but also the agricultural sector and various other sustainable sectors," he said.

Meanwhile, IFC Denpasar Advisor Ali Charisma added that the fashion show gave local designers the opportunity to show off their works.

In addition to fashion shows, there are also talk sessions that add insight and knowledge about fashion trends and marketing strategies in the global market to local and young designers.

"Through the fashion show, the local designer feels cared for and accompanied in the development of his business," he said.

Not only supporting the development of the fashion industry and accommodates talented designers, but Bank Indonesia through its social program also handed over assistance in the form of 30 sets of equipment to produce traditional gringsing fabrics typical of Tenganan Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

The CAG-cag weaving tools are given to craftsmen in one of the old villages in Bali to be able to help optimize fabric production and are expected to improve the economy of the surrounding community.
