Sampoerna Bank Strengthens Financial Literacy Among Gen Z

JAKARTA - The younger generation is a valuable asset for the progress and development of the nation. However, to be able to play an optimal role, they need to be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills, especially to achieve their financial goals.

Reflecting on this phenomenon, PT Bank Sahabat Sampoerna (Bank Sampoerna) held a financial literacy event entitled Sampoerna High School Band Competition. This event specifically aims to encourage an increase in financial literacy among high school students in Jabodetabek which will take place at Sampoerna Academy BSD, Tangerang, Saturday, September 28.

Packed interactively, this financial literacy event emphasizes the importance of the younger generation to start saving. By saving, they can build a strong foundation for mature financial planning in the future.

Director of Compliance & Risk of Bank Sampoerna A. Dendi Hardiansyah revealed that the implementation of this event was an extension of Bank Sampoerna in encouraging the younger generation to be able to understand better financial literacy to achieve their financial goals.

"We believe that through this innovative approach, it is hoped that it can increase understanding of the importance of saving among high school students in the Jabodetabek area. In this way, they can add knowledge indirectly, while showing their creativity," he said.

Dendi emphasized that his party encourages today's young generation to take a role in increasing the financial literacy index in Indonesia. Even though they are accustomed to various digital platforms, this does not necessarily guarantee that they understand the concepts of financial literacy well.

As is known, the event is not only focused on music competitions. But it also raises the theme of saving, where participants perform songs about the importance of saving.

Reflecting on various efforts to encourage increased financial literacy in the community, Bank Sampoerna succeeded in increasing the total set of Third Party Funds (DPK). Until the end of June 2024, Bank Sampoerna recorded an increase in DPK of Rp1.8 trillion or 14.3 percent to Rp14.3 trillion.

"I hope that students/i who attend this event can promote the importance of financial literacy in the community, especially their peers," he said.

On the same occasion, the Principal of Sampoerna Academy BSD Mary Jane Daggao Luyon Fajardo added that his party appreciated the presence of Bank Sampoerna, which not only supported the growth of MSMEs, but also took a role in increasing financial literacy among the younger generation.

We are grateful for the presence of Bank Sampoerna which has helped smooth the Sampoerna High School Band Competition. We also appreciate all participants who participated and showed their talents. I hope that the participants who attended did not merely participate in the band competition, but also contributed to promoting the importance of having adequate financial literacy," he concluded.
