KSPN Tanjung Kelayang In Belitung Is Still Quiet Tourists, Here Are A Series Of Constraints

The government has designated Tanjung Kelayang in the Bangka Belitung Islands as one of the National Strategic Tourism Areas (KSPN) based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 3 of 2016.

As a form of support for the development of the Bangka Belitung Islands, the Ministry of PUPR has completed a number of infrastructure developments, namely tourism housing facilities (Sarhunta), the Batu Mentas Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), improving the quality of urban slums in Kampong Amau and the Beruas-Kelapa Suspension Bridge.

The construction of Sarhunta at KSPN Tanjung Kelayang aims to improve the quality of residents' houses around the tourism area to be habitable. In 2021-2022, it was noted that the Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR had completed a total of 90 Sarhunta units with a budget of IDR 4.44 billion.

However, the number of tourist visits to KSPN Tanjung Kelayang is still relatively small to date.

In fact, one of the managers of Sarhunta or homestay there said that none of the tourists had stayed at their place until now.

"(Until September) no one has stayed overnight," he told reporters at the BPD office in Tanjong Tinggi Village, Bangka Belitung Islands, Thursday, September 26.

The Manager of Building and Settlement Areas for the First Expert Work Unit for the Provision of Housing for Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Sumatra Housing Provision Implementation Center V Hariadi Adhari said, there were a number of challenges faced by KSPN Tanjung Kelayang.

First, there is still a lack of solidity in the management of Sarhunta or homestay in Tanjong Tinggi Village.

"Then, the lack of training and supervision from the tourism office," said Hariadi at the village office

He added that KSPN Tanjung Kelayang is also quite far from the city. Thus, special attention or services are needed so that homestays remain accessible to tourists.

Hariadi also suggested that there be a joint solution from the government to overcome this. One of them is by providing publication and marketing support through collaboration with airlines, e-commerce and online travel agencies.
